On July 13th, YSL Beauty’s official Instagram account was updated with a series of pictures showcasing Sana, who serves as the brand’s ambassador for Japan. The photos captured Sana attending the ‘YSL Loveshine Factory’ pop-up event in Tokyo, highlighting her involvement and connection with the brand.
However, the celebratory post soon encountered a wave of backlash. Followers began inundating the comments section with demands for an apology to Sana after YSL Beauty’s account responded with a heart emoji to a comment that essentially claimed BLACKPINK’s Rose was a better choice as the brand’s ambassador.
The controversy sparked a heated discussion among fans and followers, amplifying the call for the brand to address the perceived slight against Sana.
Later on this day, YSL Beauty left an apology, explaining that the above comment was a mistake.
